Marketing and Communications Manager

Ref. MAR & COMM MAN – 2018


The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) is an Agency of the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC), established in terms of the Cultural Institutions Act (119 of 1998).


Direct and manage the marketing and communications activities of the institution. Manage stakeholders at all levels and position PACOFS brand as a key player in the performing arts in the Free State.



  • Develop and implement marketing plans for shows and productions to be staged
  • Develop and implement the institutional marketing strategy and plan;
  • Promote and market PACOFS and its facilities to enhance revenue generation;
  • Secure partnerships, alliances and sponsorships for the entity;
  • Stakeholder and relationships management;
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate advertising, merchandising, publicity and trade and promotion programmes;
  • Collect, analyse and present marketing information to management, thus actively participate in decision making;
  • Plan, determine, manage and ensure cost-effective utilisation of the marketing budget;
  • Identify and exploit alternative revenue streams                                                                                                                                                                                      


  • Managing of PACOFS websites to ensure up-to-date and accurate information is disseminated to the public and media;
  • Formulate and implement a communications strategy for the entity;
  • Monitor brand reputation in all media environments and proactively recommend action needed;
  • Manage all internal and external communication;
  • Responsible for opportunity identification from an internal and external communications perspective.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marketing and/or Communications or equivalent;
  • 5 years’ experience in a marketing and/or communications environment;
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate at all levels;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Good relationship with various media houses
