Vacancies exist within the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State. (PACOFS)

Remuneration: R195 000.00 to R245 000.00 (p/a all-inclusive)


PACOFS is the flag ship of theatre activities in the Free State Province, the central region of South Africa. PACOFS is seeking a dynamic and an experienced PA, to ensure that the CEO has excellent administrative support, enabling the CEO to focus on business development and high-level management issues



  • A tertiary qualification in Public Administration/Governance with specialty in Corporate Governance or Equivalent:  
  • At least 5 to 8 years’ experience in providing professional secretarial services at executive level, Personal Assistant and office support
  • Computer Literacy
  • A Valid driver’s license


  • Minute taking at board level in a highly pressured environment with an ability to pay attention to detail. 
  • Plan, organize and anticipate strategic & operational activities critical to the business plan and participate in the CEO fulfilment of his/her objectives within it.
  • Responsible for supporting all aspects of the CEO work including communications , appointment, diary, travel and accommodation as required in addition to managing dates, producing agendas, minutes and all key paperwork for meetings
  • Support the CEO in the preparation and presentation of reports, proposals, budgets and related activities in servicing and developing contracts and relationships with the stakeholders and partners
  • Ensure the CEO office is accessible to all and perceived as operating effectively and efficiently in matters that impact on internal and external communications and the fulfilment of their needs
  • Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality; Ability to maintain confidentiality of documentation and acknowledgement; including on-going maintenance of donor information


  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and be able to interact professionally across all levels of management
  • High service orientation with effective interpersonal skills a s well as a friendly disposition and be presentable at all times
  • Good time management skills and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • High level of diplomacy, emotional intelligence & personal integrity
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Working hours:  depending on the type of organisation. It may be necessary to work overtime during peak times and when deadlines are close.
  • An excellent organizer and communicator with a proactive and friendly attitude.

Multi-tasking ability and flexibility to work in this dynamic and ever-evolving environment, and will work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines

Requirements: Registered Chartered Accountant (CA) SA from an accredited and reputable institution; 5 to 6 years senior and executive management experience as well as experience in the field of finance. An excellent knowledge of Accounting principles; Must have a good knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA), National Treasury guidelines as well as other relevant prescripts within the public sector. Knowledge of the Cultural Institutions Act (119 of 1998) will be regarded as an advantage.
